About Nicola
I’m Nicola Hickling, a profoundly deaf professional LipReader trusted by journalists, PR agencies, regulators, and legal professionals to uncover the words spoken off mic.
My mantra has always been clear: “Every word counts when LipReader is watching.”
With over 20 years of experience — from my early typewriter days to working globally with leading media outlets — I’ve developed a skillset that goes beyond identifying words. I capture tone, context, and nuance. Known for precision, speed, and confidentiality, I deliver transcripts that clients can rely on when it matters most.
I’ve provided coverage across the worlds of celebrity, royalty, politics, and sport, working with outlets including Mirror, MailOnline, Femail, Daily Mail, Sky.com.au, LADbible, Sportsbible, Newsweek, Hello! Magazine, and many more. My work has featured at major events such as the NTAs, BAFTAs, Trooping the Colour, G7 Summit, March Madness, royal tours, state visits, and red-carpet premieres.
In 2025, my LipReader business became LipReader Limited, expanding my professional practice into a company recognised for its innovation and reliability. LipReader Limited collaborates with media professionals, historians, law enforcement, legal teams, and animators, providing expert witness reports, consultancy, and lipreading analysis supported by cutting-edge tools and secure workflows.
As a trusted partner of leading organisations worldwide, I uphold strict safeguarding and NDA agreements on every project. Clients entrust me with sensitive, high-value material, and I always deliver with integrity and discretion.
Away from the screen, I’m happiest with a mug of tea in my Cornish cottage garden, accompanied by my elderly rough-haired terrier or walking the coastline. That same mix of grit and warmth shapes the way I work — and I’ll always stand by my words.
Whether it’s a royal tour, celebrity red carpet, or courtroom case, I’ll find the words you need to hear.
